He knew it was time for him to take charge...

... He could feel the tension in her body as they neared the road. The sound of the traffic racing past them was daunting.

It was what he had trained for all those years. 

As she held on tightly to his lead at the roadside, he looked left and right and stepped out with confidence, he could feel her tension ease, she had every faith in him.  She knew they would make it safely to the other side.

What would she do without him, he was her lifeline.
